RIGHT NOW: WHERE ARE YOU, WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ITEM YOU’RE WEARING?

I am in my office in Hunting Park, Philadelphia (North Philly) wearing my favorite slouchy suede black boots by Ralph Lauren (I’ve had these since 2007 and have had them re-soled at least 3 times…!).

SUM UP YOUR STYLE IN ONE SENTENCE.

I have no style. Lol. I like the color black. I like to be comfortable. I like the yogi style and wear lots of long sweaters, vests, leggings with boots in the winter.

HOW DO YOU LIVE ‘MINDFULLY?’

I like to think. A lot. I am mindful about what I eat– I think a lot about sourcing, and packaging, and what beauty products I use. I try not to use products with chemicals if I can.  Only recently have I become more mindful about the clothes I am wearing (thanks to IMBY!).

WHAT’S THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP?

I turn off my alarm, read the NYT Daily Digest & turn off my son’s monitor so I can get 15-20 minutes to myself before I get him dressed and ready. If I’m really on-top-of-my-shit then I work out!  But that’s only if I can wake up at 5:40am, which doesn’t happen all the time 🙂 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO GET READY IN THE MORNING?

15-20 minutes.

WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO WORKOUT?

 Lately I’ve been doing T-25 at home – it’s only 25 minutes and I don’t need to leave my house to workout!  This is important for me because I’m alone with my son, Malcolm, in the mornings.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO KEEP YOUR LIFE (AND CLOSET!) A LEAN, MEAN, CLUTTER-FREE MACHINE? 

It’s my mode of operation.  Honestly, my husband is pretty cluttered so I am the balancing force in his life.  I have limited closet space so I have to swap seasons.  If, at the end of the season, there is something that I didn’t wear all season I donate it to Goodwill or Philly Aids Thrift.

YOU’RE A BUSY BABE. HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK, HEALTH, AND YOUR RELATIONSHIPS?

The million dollar question. I try to keep a 50-foot view on maintaining balance– some weeks are heavier with work, others are heavier with family commitments, some weeks I can workout 5 times, others only 2 times.  I maintain the perspective that life is (hopefully) a marathon and not a sprint, and that in the end, I am doing the absolute best that I can!

WHAT PODCASTS OR BLOGS DO YOU KEEP UP WITH?

This American Life and TED Talks. Not so many because I can’t seem to find the time to read/listen!

WHO DO YOU ADMIRE?

My mom.

FAVORITE SPOTS FOR A HEALTHY MEAL?

Honeygrow, an emerging fast casual food chain out of Philadelphia. My kitchen (I’ve recently signed on to the Blue Apron bandwagon!).
